Popular Women’s Summit to be Held in Indianapolis
The TAPPI Women in Industry Division is proud to announce
the return of TAPPI's Women's Summit on May 9, 2019 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Summit, held
in conjunction with PaperCon 2019, offers women in the paper and packaging industry a forum to discuss issues and challenges they
face in the workforce.
The inaugural Summit, held last year in Charlotte, NC, focused on helping attendees overcome the challenges of being a woman leader as well as keeping composure in difficult situations. Industry leaders spoke about defining moments in their careers. Many attendees indicated the event gave them a sense of empowerment to better manage and grow their own careers.
The 2019 Summit will feature a keynote presentation followed by roundtable
discussions addressing topics prevalent and integral to women in today's
workforce.
Key discussion topics include:
- Managing
Up - Advocating for your projects and ideas within the company structure
- Cultural
Bias Awareness and Acceptance - Understanding how cultural biases in the workplace can affect women as they move up the corporate ladder
- Managing
a Diverse Team - Learning how to work successfully with a diverse workforce
During the Summit, attendees will have
the unique opportunity to do their own self-assessment and determine how they
would react to different situations or approach problems. The Summit also offers valuable networking opportunities with Division members, industry
experts, Young Professionals and other attendees.
