Developing TAPPI Standards

Standards are of the utmost importance in the pulp, paper and converting industries as they have a serious impact on business and trade. As a member, you are eligible to get involved in the process of developing new Standards for the industry.

How to Propose new Standards

Are you interested in proposing a new Standard? We encourage members to consult our complete list of subject categories for Standards below, or view the PDF list.

If you have a general idea for a Standard, you can complete the New Idea Submission Form. We will review your idea and identify the right committee or group to work on your suggestion.

If you already further along, you can send an initial draft to standards@tappi.org. A Standards manager will then work with you to develop a Standard-Specific Interest Group (SSIG) for the new Standard. This will set in motion the development and review process, which is described in the Standards Guidelines.

Donations will support WWP as it connects warriors with one another, their community, and with life-changing programs and services. Valmet Expands European Roll Service with New Center in Sweden (2/21/2017)

Valmet, Finland, has expanded its roll maintenance operations with the latest technology equipment for rubber and composite roll covers in Karlstad, Sweden. This investment particularly strengthens Valmet's service capabilities close to its customers in Scandinavia, while also supporting Valmet's roll service offering to customers throughout Europe. The extended roll service center started operating at the end of 2016.

Burgo Announces Conversion to Containerboard Plan for Line 2 at Avezzano Mill (2/28/2017)

Burgo Group S.p.A., Italy, one of the main European producers of graphical and special papers, this week announced the start of a conversion plan for Line 2 at the Avezzano (AQ) paper mill, from graphical paper to containerboard, with the view of making the mill a true national center of excellence for “cardboard” production.

New Major Nanocellulose Project Starting in Northern Sweden (2/15/2017)
